For the first time, I’ve travelled with a kid. As it was a first one, I had to learn to adapt myself to this new target. 🙂
Luckily, this 8 years old sweetheart likes to discover new things and to go for walk. So, we decided to split our day as below:
Walk in Istria – beach time – drinks after diner
He was always eagerly awaiting new things. What I love! 🙂
We had, Caroline, his mum and a really good friend of mine, and myself, to find some recreational activities to do but also nothing too long (really important with kids of this age)!! 😉
Below are some examples to what we recommend to do with a kid:
- Rovinj: a nice walk in the old town between the shops (during the morning in summer to avoid the big heat). At each corner, there is something new to discover et the view from the St Euphemy Cathedral with its artists who are playing music or painting the landscape on the square. (Cristiano really liked it 😉 )
- Pazin and its abyss: when I arrived in Pula, the weather wasn’t really nice, it was raining. We decided to go to Pazin and to visit its famous abyss that inspired the French author Jules Verne in the writing of ‘Mathias Sandorf’. For that, we used the services of Speleo Adventure (Contact : +385 (0) 91 5121528 – email@example.com – Speleo adventure Pazinska jama – Pazin cave) : a 2 hour and a half adventure brings you to the abyss after a hike in the canyon. Attention, it is not possible to go inside without a guide and it’s only from 7 years old!!
Small tips from Lea: put on your sneakers (without flat sole) or if possible hiking shoes -> we went there after a rainy morning, the floor was really slippery ! They don’t offer visit after summer or when the floor is too slippery.
The most: Inside, there is a zipline! A really good memory for all of us (Cristiano, who is scared of heights and had some apprehension at the start, loved it and would have love to do it again).
- Kamenjak (National Park): a really beautiful national park (entrance fees by car have to be paid before to access to the park). It is possible to drive between the different beaches with clear water and their cliffs. At the cape of the park, there are some really high cliffs where you can jump from (as the picture below). You can access there from Safari Bar (where you can buy drinks and food), the kids paradise : lot of games are in this place.
Small tips from Lea: think to wearing some swimming shoes (most of the times there is a lot of sea urchin on the rocks…). If you are planning to stay few days around, think about the multi-days ticket (can be cheaper 😉 ).
- Zeppelin Bar: our little night point of reference, it’s not the most atypical bar where I’ve been but it was one of the most enjoyable one and above all it offers a lot of different things to do especially for a kid: a five field, a trampoline space, a water game course, music at night, possibility to drink or eat onsite and during the day pedals and jet ski can be rent. All of it close to the sea and illuminated by fairy lights.
We also did a lot of different beaches and coves around that I highly recommend you to explore! The one that I recommend you the most if you are with kids is Coala Beach : not a lot of current but it’s a shingle beach. 😉
